Isegoria conference: The Governor of the Banque de France live on Instagram

On November 26, 230 spectators joined Instagram to watch the live conference-debate organised by the student association Isegoria. François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Banque de France was the guest of this conference, broadcasted on Instagram on both the Audencia and the Banque de France accounts. The topic of this event was "Tomorrow, all Keynesians?”. A theme obviously inspired by the economic crisis we are going through and one of its consequences: the return to the forefront of Keynes' theories in the political response to this crisis.

During this conference, François Villeroy de Galhau shared his vision of the economic issues created by the Covid-19 crisis: what is the situation of the French economy after two periods of confinement? Which recovery plan should we consider? For what results? What place for Europe in the economic recovery? It was an opportunity for our students and the general public to ask directly their questions on the European economy, the production of currency, the GDP and the recovery, the impact of the health crisis on the economy or the challenges of our economy facing global climate change.

The guest speaker:

François Villeroy de Galhau is a former student of the Ecole Polytechnique and ENA. He began his career at the French Treasury Department in 1988. He became an advisor to the Minister of Finance and then to Prime Minister Pierre Bérégovoy, before becoming Chief of Staff to Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Christian Sautter at the Ministry of the Economy and Finance. In 2003, he became head of the Cetelem Group before becoming Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas in 2011. In 2015, President François Hollande appointed him to the governance of the Banque de France.
