Back to school with BRIO

On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, on the occasion of the BRIO back-to-school day, the first workshop of the year was held for the final year students of the class of 2021. It was a masked reunion for the 75 high school students and their tutors who took part in this event!

After several months of confinement and summer holidays, a workshop on gender stereotypes led by various external speakers specialising in these issues started the year off. A perfect way to bring together high school students from the Petit-Port and Chantrerie sites and to deconstruct stereotypes.

After that, a conference was held, led by Constance Monnier, from the Inequality Observatory, and punctuated by improvised sketches by actors Céline Allain and Léo Boulay to illustrate the figures and statistics presented. That way, the students gained a better understanding of certain realities.

Testimonials, sketches, role-playing: the workshops have benefited from a great variety of formats!

BRIO is the social openness and equal opportunity programme of 4 higher education schools in Nantes. Launched in 2006, at the initiative of Audencia and Centrale Nantes, the programme was awarded the "Cordée de la réussite" label by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in 2008.

The aim of the project is to enable high school students from disadvantaged neighbourhoods and/or socially disadvantaged families to carry out long and ambitious studies.
